RELATED: Apple Just Released This Warning About the Latest iPhones. Apple has decided to get rid of its year-long free trial of Apple TV+ starting July 1, The Verge reported on Monday. Apple TV+ is the company’s own streaming service, which hosts popular originals such as Ted Lasso, Dickinson, and The Oprah Conversation. In Apple’s newest update of its terms and conditions for the free trial promotion, the company explains that it is transitioning the promotion to a three-month free trial instead. “Eligible devices activated July 1, 2021 or later will qualify for offers of three months free Apple TV+,” the terms now state. If you go ahead and make your new purchase in the next week, you may still be able to get the full year-long promotion. According to Apple’s terms and conditions, new devices activated on or before June 30 will still qualify for the free year-long trial of Apple TV+. This goes for “any new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac capable of running the latest iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, or macOS” purchased prior to July 1 from Apple or an Apple authorized reseller. If you buy your device after June 30, you will only be offered the three-month trial promotion. RELATED: For more up-to-date information, sign up for our daily newsletter. There are some stipulations that could make you ineligible for the free three-month trial of Apple TV+, however. According to the company’s terms and conditions, there is only one offer per family regardless of the number of devices purchased—but you can share the subscription trial with up to five other family members.ae0fcc31ae342fd3a1346ebb1f342fcb But if you or someone in your family plan has previously accepted the Apple TV+ one-year free offer, you are not eligible for the three-month promotion. You also must claim the offer in the Apple TV app within three months after setting up your new device. “To see the offer appear, you will need to sign in with your Apple ID on your new device,” the company explains. Apple TV+ has three different free trial promotions: a year for devices bought and activated on or before June 30, three months for new devices purchased July 1 or later, and seven days for anyone who hasn’t bought a new device. By claiming any of these offers, once it ends, the $4.99 per month subscription service “starts immediately after the free offer period and automatically renews until cancelled,” Apple explains. If you don’t want to pay for Apple TV+, you can cancel at any time during your trial, but your service will be cut off immediately. “If you cancel during your free offer period, you and your family members will immediately lose access to Apple TV+ and the remainder of your free trial. You can’t reactivate this trial,” Apple warns. So if you want to make the most of your free trial, don’t cancel until the very last day!
