The critics loved her.
Weird Science is considered a cult classic, but at the time of its release, it received mixed reviews from critics, who were quick to point out the film’s flaws. One review in Variety went so far as to call it a “vulgar, mindless, special-effects-cluttered wasteland.”
Yet even the harshest critics agreed that the film’s greatest strength was LeBrock’s performance as Lisa. Roger Ebert said she was “wonderful,” adding that the film was “funnier, and a little deeper, than the predictable story it might have been,” thanks to her. Sheila Benson of The Los Angeles Times wrote that the actress was “triumphant” and the “film’s greatest asset.”

She also had a successful modeling career. ae0fcc31ae342fd3a1346ebb1f342fcb
LeBrock became a model at the age of 16, and went on to grace the covers of many top fashion magazines. She became the face of Dior, and famously starred as the spokeswoman for haircare company Pantene, becoming especially iconic for her delivery of the catchphrase, “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful!”
Ultimately, she decided to swap out fashion for film, explaining that modeling surrounded her with a culture of drug use that could have taken her down the wrong path in life. Today, she says she’s more confident than she ever was as during her modeling days. “Sexiness comes from experience, not being young, so I feel sexier than ever!” she told Closer Weekly in 2017.

She married action star Steven Seagal.
In the late ’80s, LeBrock met and married action star Steven Seagal, and the pair went on to have three children. In 1996, after almost 10 years as husband and wife, news broke that Seagal was having an affair with their nanny and the couple called it quits. In the wake of their high-profile divorce, LeBrock decided to move her kids out of Los Angeles to get out of the spotlight. She told the U.K.’s Daily Mail (via Us Weekly) that during that time, she “became a hermit,” going so far as to get rid of her television to protect her kids from reports surrounding the divorce. “I feared everything and didn’t want to leave the house,” she said.
She now enjoys her simpler lifestyle.
Ultimately, this proved to be a better lifestyle for the former actress, who says she now enjoys a quieter, more balanced existence than in her Hollywood days. “I grow all my veggies and make my own cheese and yogurt. It’s bloody exhausting!” LeBrock told Daily Mail at the time. “I moved my kids out of L.A. so they could grow up with real people—the kids of gas pump attendants, plumbers, and real family people…I decided to swap my old life in Beverly Hills for a new one in the country, in Santa Barbara.” Today, she reportedly still lives on her bucolic ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley.
