Its new cases are up almost 21 percent and COVID-related deaths are up 65 percent compared to the previous week, according to the White House document. 206 new cases per 100,000 people last week The Lone Star State has received a lot of attention for its recent spike in cases. Texas saw a 29 percent increase in new coronavirus cases from the previous week and a 96 percent increase in COVID-19-related deaths. 214 new cases per 100,000 people last week South Carolina has reported a 45 percent increase in COVID-related deaths from the previous week and 36 of its 46 counties are considered to be in the “red zone,” too. 243 new cases per 100,000 people last week Louisiana, which was initially also hit hard by COVID, saw a 33 percent rise in new coronavirus cases in the past week and an 11 percent increase in COVID-19-related deaths. 308 new cases per 100,000 people last week Earlier this week, Florida set the record for most new daily cases in any state nationwide.
